Washington Square West
Midtown Village, the Gayborhood, the walk-up blocks off 12th and 13th, and the Chinatown edge — 19107 is dense, young, and almost entirely without elevators. The signature job here is the third-floor move-out: we carry the couch and the mattress down the stairs and out to the truck on a tight one-way street, at one flat photo-quoted price. No PA sales tax on the service. 中文服务.
Built for a neighborhood of walk-ups
Washington Square West is one of the densest rental pockets in Center City — converted rowhouses cut into apartments, mid-century walk-up buildings, and newer condos, packed onto narrow one-way streets between Broad and Chinatown. It's a young neighborhood: renters, students, hospitality and healthcare workers around Jefferson and Pennsylvania Hospital, and the LGBTQ+ community that gives Midtown Village its Gayborhood identity. What almost none of it has is an elevator. So when a lease ends and a one-bedroom on the third floor is full of furniture that has to go, the whole problem is the stairs — and that's exactly the problem we solve.
Our crews carry it out. A sleeper sofa comes down a switchback interior staircase, a queen mattress and box spring go on the same truck, and a busted dresser and a stack of moving boxes ride along too — all for one flat price you saw before we showed up. We don't drag it to the curb and leave it (that's the city's two-item bulk rule, and a couch doesn't even qualify — more on that below). We pull it from the room and drive it away the same trip. Because Wash West sits right against Chinatown, we also take bookings and confirm pricing in Chinese (中文) — 搬运垃圾、家具回收、固定价格.
What we haul out of Wash West every week
- No-elevator move-outs — the everyday job: couch, mattress, dresser, and boxes carried down from a second- or third-floor walk-up to the truck.
- Single-item furniture pickups — a sofa, a sectional, a desk, a bookshelf that won't fit down the stairs anymore.
- Condo & converted-row turnover — full-unit clears between tenants or after a sale.
- Mattress + box spring sets — bagged and recycled for you, no plastic bag to buy.
- Appliances & electronics — mini-fridges, window ACs, TVs, monitors, e-waste diverted from landfill.

Does Philly pick up your old couch here?
Technically the city gives every rowhome and small building a two-item curbside bulk limit on your regular trash day — but that's built for people with a house and a sidewalk of their own, not a third-floor Wash West walk-up. You'd still have to wrestle the couch down the stairs yourself, and then it sits on a narrow one-way sidewalk for days until collection. Appliances, ACs, and TVs aren't even part of that — those need a separate appointment through 311, and only for buildings of six units or fewer, up to four items, scheduled days out and left at the curb.
That's the whole gap we fill: same-day, inside-the-unit, multi-item, and any size building. We carry it from your apartment, load it, and it's gone the same trip — no dragging, no sidewalk pile, no waiting on an appointment. On a block where you can barely find parking, "we come up and take it" is worth a lot more than "leave it out and hope."
Access we handle without a surcharge
- No elevator, tight interior stairs — switchback and winder staircases in the converted rows; we bring the muscle and, when a piece won't turn the landing, we disassemble it.
- Narrow one-way streets, scarce parking — 12th, 13th, Camac, Quince and the little streets; we stage the truck and keep the carry short.
- Mattress + couch in one trip — the classic move-out combo on a single flat price; we bag the mattress ourselves per the city's rule.
- Chinatown-adjacent Chinese service — book and confirm your flat price in 中文 if that's easier.
When Wash West calls us
End-of-month lease turnovers and quick renter churn are the bread and butter — a one-bedroom that has to be empty by the 1st. But it's also the upgrade that leaves an old sleeper sofa in the way, the roommate who moved out and left a mattress behind, the condo owner clearing a unit before it lists, and the small office or studio off Walnut shedding old furniture. Whatever the reason, it's one photo, one flat number, and we carry it down.
What Wash West customers say
"Third-floor walk-up on 13th, no elevator, and my sleeper sofa was stuck. They carried it and the mattress down and out to the truck in twenty minutes. Flat price from a photo, gone same day."
"我在华盛顿广场西租的公寓退租,沙发、床垫和一堆旧家具都要处理。他们用中文报价,价格固定,当天就搬走了。非常省心。"
"Cleared a condo before it went on the market — old couch, a dresser, and a dead TV. One flat number, no sales tax, and they handled the parking on a one-way street. Easy."
