Junk Removal in
Point Breeze
A grid in visible transition — longtime rowhomes block by block with gut-renovations and new-construction infill. That mix drives our work here: reno and demolition debris, investor-flip clear-outs racing a listing date, and the basement a family has been meaning to empty for years. One flat photo-quoted price, C&D hauled to a licensed transfer station, no PA sales tax on the service.
A neighborhood mid-change, handled with respect
Point Breeze, the 19146 grid below Washington Avenue, is one of the fastest-changing neighborhoods in the city. Its backbone is the historic Black community that has held these blocks for generations, in the same narrow brick rowhomes that define South Philly — and alongside them now sit gut-renovations, new-construction infill, and the occasional lot still waiting. That's the reality of the work here: on one street it's a builder finishing a whole-house rehab, on the next it's a longtime owner finally clearing a cellar packed since the 1980s. We do both, and we do them the same careful way — quiet crews, floors and stoops protected, and no assumptions about whose house it is.
What ties every Point Breeze job together is the housing itself: tight streets, no driveways, no rear alleys, and steep interior stairs down to a full basement. Whether it's a debris pile from a demo or thirty years of a basement, the only way out is up the stairs and out the front to a truck on the street. That carry-out is exactly what a flat photo quote is for — you see the price before we start, and the hard part is already in it.
What we haul in Point Breeze
- Renovation & demolition debris — drywall, plaster, lath, old cabinets, flooring, tile, and fixtures from a gut-reno, hauled to a licensed transfer station.
- Investor-flip clear-outs — leftover furniture, tenant belongings, and reno scraps pulled before a property lists.
- Rowhouse basement cleanouts — decades of stored furniture, appliances, and boxes carried up the cellar stairs and out.
- Whole-home clear-outs — basement to top floor before a sale, a rehab, or a new tenant.
- Single heavy items — an old sofa, a fridge, a washer, or a workbench that has to come up from below grade.
Real Point Breeze pricing
Everything is flat and photo-quoted before the truck rolls. A clear-out or a debris haul is priced by how much fills the truck; construction and demolition debris is priced by the cubic yard because it goes to a paid private facility, not the free city centers. Labor, the carry-up, the drive, and disposal are all in the number.
| Job / Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Clear-out (truck-fill 1/4) | $241 |
| Clear-out (truck-fill 1/2) | $431 |
| Larger clear (truck-fill 3/4) | $587 |
| Full truck | $732 |
| Construction / demo debris (per cubic yard) | $120 |
| Sofa / couch | $126 |
| Refrigerator | $164 |
| Washer or dryer | $128–$133 |
| Dresser | $126 |
$75 minimum. Disposal included; photo-priced before the truck rolls. No PA sales tax on the service.

Why construction debris is priced on its own
This trips up a lot of first-time flippers and DIY renovators in Point Breeze. The city's six Sanitation Convenience Centers take resident bulk trash — but they will not accept construction or demolition debris at all. Drywall, plaster, wood, tile, and busted fixtures have no municipal route; a hauler has to take them to a licensed private transfer station and recycler that charges a gate fee by weight, with C&D minimums that start around a hundred dollars even for a small load. That's the honest reason demo debris is quoted by the cubic yard from $120 rather than tossed in with household furniture — it's a different disposal path with a real cost behind it. We handle the whole thing: the pickup, the haul, and the paperwork trail to a proper facility.
Does the city clear a reno or a basement?
Not for this. The city's two-item curbside bulk limit lets you set out two large items on your trash day, and appliances need a separate 311 appointment (six-unit homes or smaller, up to four items, days out). But a gut-reno's worth of debris or a full basement is neither two items nor a curb job — and, again, the convenience centers won't take C&D. You'd be hauling it yourself, over weeks, past a program that isn't built for the volume, with a pile on a narrow one-way street in between.
Our lane is the opposite: same-day, inside the house, multi-item, all in one visit. We do the stairs, we load the truck, and the debris or the basement is gone the same trip — one flat price, no rationing, no sidewalk pile on a block where parking is already tight.
Point Breeze access, handled
- Narrow cellar stairs — steep, tight-turn Philly basement stairs; we bring the crew and the technique to get big pieces and debris up.
- No driveway, front-door-only — everything comes out to a curbside truck, the way these rowhouse blocks are built.
- Tight one-way streets — we stage the truck, keep the carry short, and don't block the block longer than we have to.
- Licensed C&D disposal — demolition debris routed to a permitted transfer station; usable furniture donated, metal and clean wood recycled.
When Point Breeze calls us
The calls split neatly along the neighborhood's two lives. From the builders and investors it's the deadline work: a gut-reno mid-project that needs the debris cleared before the next trade shows up, or a finished flip that has to be empty and clean before the photographer and the listing. From the longtime owners it's the overdue basement, the estate of a parent's house before it sells, or the old couch and fridge left behind after an upgrade. Different callers, same answer — one set of photos, one flat number, and we carry it out.
What Point Breeze customers say
"Gutted a rowhouse on Wharton and had a mountain of drywall and old cabinets. They quoted the pile from a photo, hauled it to a real transfer station, and swept up after. Priced by the yard, no surprises."
"Cleared out my late mother's basement — she'd been on the block fifty years. The crew was respectful, careful on her stairs, and hauled decades of stuff up and out in an afternoon. Flat price, no sales tax."
"Had a flip that needed to be empty before it listed Friday. They came same-day, cleared the leftover furniture and reno scraps, and I had clean photos by the weekend."
