When Darby Creek comes up

Eastwick and the surrounding Southwest — 19153 and 19142 — sit on some of the lowest ground in the city, a former tidal marsh along Darby Creek hard by the airport. That history is also its hardship: this is Philadelphia's chronic flood zone, inundated by Hurricane Ida and, unlike a one-off, by storm after storm before and since. The homes are single-family houses and rowhomes with basements, owned by Black and immigrant working-class families who've done the wet, exhausting cleanup more times than anyone should. When the water comes up, it comes into the basement first, and it leaves behind a soaked, heavy mess: couches and mattresses swollen with water, a dead washer, dryer and water heater, boxes of belongings turned to pulp, and drywall that has to come out before anything can dry.

We do that muck-out. Once the water's down and it's safe to work, our crew hauls the wet, ruined material out of the basement so the space can dry and get repaired — priced flat from your photos, with no flood surcharge for the harder, dirtier job. We come equipped for the weight and the mess, we move fast because mold doesn't wait, and we route anything that survived dry and usable to donation. And when there's no storm involved, the same crew does the everyday work: a routine basement or garage clear, a whole-house move-out, an old couch or a dead fridge. Wet or dry, it's one flat price, and no PA sales tax on the service.

What we clear in Eastwick & Southwest

  • Flooded-basement muck-outs — the signature job: soaked furniture, ruined appliances, waterlogged belongings, and torn-out drywall, hauled so the space can dry.
  • Ruined appliances — washers, dryers, water heaters, and furnaces killed by flood water, out and recycled with freon recovered where required.
  • Value basement & garage cleanouts — the everyday non-flood clear, priced flat by how much fills the truck.
  • Whole-house & move-out clears — a single-family home or rowhouse emptied for a sale, a move, or a fresh start.
  • Single items from the minimum — a couch, a fridge, a mattress, or an old washer, flat-priced from a photo.

Real Eastwick pricing

More on Philadelphia flood cleanouts → — how a post-storm basement muck-out is scoped and dispatched, in Eastwick and the city's other flood blocks.

Does the city handle a flooded basement?

No — and in a neighborhood that floods this often, that gap is brutal. Philadelphia's two-item curbside bulk limit lets you set out two large items on your trash day, and appliances need a separate 311 appointment booked days out. But a flooded basement isn't two items — it's a soaked couch, a mattress, a washer, a water heater, and a mound of ruined drywall and belongings, all heavy with water and all needing to leave now before mold sets in. Rationing it two pieces a week isn't cleanup; it's a health hazard sitting on your sidewalk. The city's convenience centers are resident drop-off only and don't take construction and demolition debris at all, so the drywall isn't even theirs to take — and none of it will get carried up your stairs.

Our lane is the fast, full-service one: we dispatch quickly, take everything in one trip, and carry it up from the basement. Wet furniture, dead appliances, and demo material together, out so the space can dry, at one flat price — no appointments, no two-item limit, no pile lingering while the smell gets worse.

Eastwick access, handled

  • Wet, heavy, moldy material — we come equipped for flood muck-outs and get it out so drying and repairs can start.
  • Basements & driveways — we carry up from the cellar, and on the single-family blocks we load straight from the drive; the carry is in the flat price.
  • Fast post-storm dispatch — when Darby Creek and the low blocks take on water, we push to get you a flat number and a slot quickly.
  • Recycling + donation — appliances and metal recycled; anything that survived dry and usable routed to donation.

After the water — call as soon as it's safe

With flood damage, timing is the whole game: the faster the wet material comes out, the better the chance of saving the space from mold and rot. When the creek backs up and the low blocks flood, we push to dispatch fast — but storm weeks are the busiest of the year, so the earlier you send photos, the sooner we can get you a flat number and a slot. And between storms, the same crew is here for the ordinary jobs too: a routine basement cleanout with no water involved, a garage cleared to the walls, a whole-house move-out, or just one old couch that has to go.

"No flood this time — just needed my late father's basement and garage cleared before we sold the house. Same crew, one flat price, respectful, and they donated what they could. Would call again."
