The definitive Philly rowhouse cleanout

Fairmount — "the Art Museum area," a grid of tidy brick rowhouses fanning out behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Eastern State Penitentiary — is about as classic-Philadelphia as housing gets. These are two- and three-story homes with full basements, filled over the years by families and professionals with everything a basement collects: the old sofa that got replaced, a dead washer, paint cans, holiday bins, a workbench, and a decade of "we'll deal with it later." And every one of these houses shares the same constraint — no driveway, no rear alley. The only way anything leaves is up the narrow interior stairs and out the front door to a truck on the street.

That carry-up is precisely what we're built for. Our crews take the stairs so you don't, empty the basement (and the attic, while we're at it), and load it straight to the truck for one flat price you approved from a photo. There's no stairs surcharge and no "no-driveway" surcharge — the whole point of the flat quote is that the hard part is already priced in. Usable furniture gets donated, metal and e-waste get recycled, and the basement you've been avoiding for years is empty by the afternoon.

What we clear in Fairmount

  • Full-basement cleanouts — the signature job: old furniture, appliances, boxes, tools, and bins, carried up and out.
  • Attic clear-outs — decades of storage from the top floor, down two flights and gone.
  • Whole-home move-outs — basement to attic in one scheduled visit, for a sale or a downsize.
  • Single heavy items — a sleeper sofa, a fridge, a washer/dryer, or a piano that has to come up from below grade.
  • Parkway-area condo turnover — full-unit clears in the newer buildings along the Parkway.

Real Fairmount pricing

A basement cleanout is priced by how much of the truck it fills — quoted flat from your photos, before anyone shows up. Single items have their own flat price too. Labor, the carry-up, the drive, and disposal are all in it.

Does the city clear out a basement?

No — and this is where Fairmount homeowners get stuck. The city's two-item curbside bulk limit lets you set out two large items on your regular trash day, and appliances need a separate 311 appointment (six-unit-or-smaller homes, up to four items, scheduled days out). But a basement full of thirty years of stuff is neither two items nor a curb job. You'd be hauling every piece up your own stairs, spreading it across several trash weeks, and living with a sidewalk pile in between. And the city's convenience centers are drop-off only, resident-hauled — no help getting it out of the house.

Our lane is everything that program isn't: same-day, inside-the-home, multi-item, all in one visit. We do the stairs, we do the loading, and it's gone the same trip — no rationing it two items a week, no pile on the sidewalk, no rented van. One flat price, one afternoon.

Fairmount access, handled

  • Narrow interior basement stairs — steep, tight-turn Philly cellar stairs; we bring the crew and the technique to get big pieces up.
  • No driveway, front-door-only — everything comes out to a curbside truck, exactly the way these blocks are built.
  • Scarce, permit-parked streets — we stage the truck and keep the carry tight; parking is our job, not yours.
  • Donation + recycling routing — Goodwill, Habitat ReStore, VVA for the good pieces; metal and e-waste recycled.

When Fairmount calls us

The most common call is the long-overdue basement — a homeowner who finally wants the cellar back, or a family clearing a parent's house before it sells. But it's also the new buyer who inherited the last owner's junk, the renovation that needs the basement empty before work starts, the upgrade that leaves an old couch and mattress behind, and the whole-home downsize out of a house held for decades. One set of photos, one flat number, and we carry it up.

What Fairmount customers say

★★★★★

"Thirty years in the basement — furniture, an old washer, boxes to the ceiling. They carried every bit up those brutal cellar stairs and out the front. No driveway, no problem. Flat price, done in an afternoon."

— Kathleen M., Fairmount
★★★★★

"We sold my dad's rowhouse off the Parkway and needed it emptied top to bottom. Basement, attic, the whole thing — one visit, one flat number, and they donated what they could. Respectful crew."

— Brian D., Art Museum area
★★★★★

"Just needed a sleeper sofa and an old fridge gone from the basement. Priced it from a photo, showed up on time, carried both up the narrow stairs. No sales tax, no surprises."

— Priya S., Fairmount
